The administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts on Wednesday accepted the police’s request to grant seven-day remand of DSP Qamar Ahmed in the Naqeeb Mehsud murder case. Ahmed was part of now-suspended District Malir SSP Rao Anwar’s team, which stands accused of conducting a fake encounter last month in which Mehsud was shot dead.
Ahmed told the court that he was first summoned for investigation on February 14 and later arrested on February 19. Main accused Anwar and 10 constables are yet to be arrested.
However, sub-inspector Yaseen, assistant sub-inspectors Allah Yar and Saparud Hussain, head constables Iqbal and Khizar Hayat, and constables Arshad Ali, Shafeeq Ahmed, Abdul Ali and Ghulam Nazuk have been arrested.
Investigation-II SP Abid Qaimkhani had presented the investigation report before the trial court that said accused Anwar, Shah Latif SHO Amanullah Marwat, SITE SHO Anar Khan, Shah Latif SI Fida Hussain, Abbas Town ASI Ali Akbar Mallah and others were still at large.
