Millions of out-of-school children in Pakistan are trapped in the quagmire of forced labour. The issue has been highlighted so many times and the authorities concerned are heavily criticised for their incompetence with regard to providing a safe environment for children to live in. The issue of child labour is a challenging task that must be dealt with by the government on an urgent basis. Unfortunately, the higher authorities haven’t taken constructive steps to alleviate the suffering of children who are sacrificing their childhood to put food on table.
Multiple surveys have uncovered the horrifying truth that these children are malnourished. A majority of these children are working in dangerous situations. Although the government has passed laws that prohibit employers from employing underage children, the failure to implement these laws has allowed people to hire these children below the minimum wage. The government has to devise a solution to cope with this serious problem.
