PESHAWAR: Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra here on Tuesday termed the establishment of honourary consulate office of the Russian Federation the beginning of a new chapter of renewed diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
He said the two countries were looking at each other as complementary partners for regional balance, growth and partnerships for wellbeing of the respective people.
An official handout said that he was addressing as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the Honourary Consulate of Russian Federation in Peshawar.
Beside others, the ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Pakistan, Honourary Consul General of Russian Federation in Peshawar Muhammad Arsala Khan and a number of local dignitaries.
The governor said, “Indeed the Russian Federation and Pakistan have entered into a new phase of diplomatic relations.”
He also mentioned the progress on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project and said that it would be of tremendous help in strengthening the bonds of economic relationships in this part of the world.
Jhagra said this whole area from Trans-Kazakhstan to Oxus River and onwards to Pamir Mountains was the gateway to bringing and shaping cultures, religion fervour and trade.
