Moody confident Multan Sultan to play till final stages of PSL
DUBAI: Former Australian cricketer and Multan Sultans’ Head Coach Tom Moody has said that the team has not discussed as yet about traveling to Pakistan for final stages of Pakistan Super League's (PSL) third edition.
He was talking to Geo News at the International Cricket Academy in Dubai after the first training session of Multan Sultans. “We are very excited to play our first and inauguration match of the PSL with the defending champion Peshawar Zalmi and his team is preparing for the first round”, the head coach of new franchise stated.
He recognised that Multan Sultans is a new franchise in the PSL while other teams already have two years experience of the tournament. “But I am confident that the team is competent and will be playing till the business end of the tournament.” Moody asserted.
About the talent and experience of the players, he believes that his franchise has the most experienced players and players who have performed at highest level consistently. “We are lucky to have players like Kumar Sangakara, Shoaib Malik, Kollon Pollard, Ahmed Shahzad are huge plus for his side.” Tom Moody counted his strength. Replying to a question of his memories in Pakistan as cricketer, Moody said that he remembered playing World Cup 1987 in Pakistan but satirically stated that many listeners would not have born at that time.
In 2005 Tom Moody was appointed coach of the Sri Lankan national team and he led them to the final of the 2007 world cup before leaving the post. And currently he has been coaching the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League (IPL) and Rangpur Riders in Bangladesh Premier League too.
