Zimbabwe’s Raza fined over dissent

Zimbabwe’s Raza fined over dissent

SHARJAH: Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza has received one demerit point and fined 15 percent of his match fees for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the third One-Day International against Afghanistan in Sharjah on Tuesday.

Match referee Richie Richardson reported Raza for “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match” under Article 2.1.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. Raza admitted to the offence and accepted the sanctions, so there is no formal hearing required.

The incident happened during the 23rd over of Zimbabwe’s batting innings. On being given out LBW off Rashid Khan, Raza “questioned the umpire’s decision by raising his arms before leaving the crease after a short time,” the ICC release said.
