National squash trials for int’l events in progress
ISLAMABAD: Leading aspirants competing to become part of Pakistan team for Asian meet and later for Commonwealth Games are currently going through trials at the Mushaf Ali Mir Complex. The Asian Squash Team Championship for men & women is to be played in Korea between March 21–25, 2018. Pakistan squash contingent would also participate in the forthcoming Commonwealth Games starting in Australia from April 4, 2018. Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) has organised trials for men and women at Mushaf Squash Complex, Islamabad starting from 13 February to select teams for these events. In addition to senior professional players, PSF has also invited few juniors to play the trials so that they could also get exposure of playing with senior players for better performance in future events.
The players are competing for a place in the national team are: Men: Israr Ahmed (SNGPL), Amaad Fareed (SNGPL), Tayyab Aslam (ZTBL), Asim Khan (SNGPL), Farhan Zaman (PAF), Mehran Javed (KP), Kashif Asif (SNGPL), Mansoor Zaman (KP), Abbas Zeb (KPK).
Women: Sadia Gul (SNGPL), Faiza Zafar (Sindh), Zoya Khalid (Army), Maria Toor, Samia Shaukat and Riffat Khan (Wapda), Madina Zafar and Aiman Shahbaz (SNGPL), Komal (KP).
