Murree, suburbs receive heavy snowfall
MURREE: Tourist hill resort after long dry spell received heavy snowfall of this winter season dropping the mercury to minus three degrees Celsius resulting severe chill in Murree and suburbs.
The snowfall has also covered a wide area in suburbs in Murree. There was acute scarcity of potable water in Murree as the natural springs were dried up due to long prevailing dry spell here. Due to heavy snowfall, the main roads leading to Murree are almost closed. However the Punjab Highway Department is continuing cleaning operation to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The snowfall continued till the filing of this report and more than 14 inches snow was recorded in Murree. Most of commuters faced serious problems due to snowfall.
The reports of heavy snowfall were received from Nathiagali and other areas of Galliyat and more than two feet snowfall was reported in the area. There is complete vehicular traffic suspension in the areas of Galliyat.
