HYDERABAD: Ten persons including nine women lost their lives while three others received injuries in a head-on collision between a Suzuki pickup and a dumper on the Hyderabad-Tando Muhammad Khan Road near Village Noonari on Monday morning.
According to SSP Hyderabad, the deceased and injured were sales girls and a saleswomen of a company who were going to Tando Muhammad Khan in a Suzuki pick-up for marketing of the company’s products.
When the Suzuki pickup reached near village Noonari in the jurisdiction of Husri Police Station, a speedy dumper coming from the oppositedirection collided with it, as a result of which all passengers of the pick-up received serious injuries. Soon after the accident, the police and rescue workers rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
The police though seized the dumper but failed to arrest the driver who managed to escape from the spot. The salesman Zubair and nine others identified as Sajida, Hina, Rehana, Shabana, Safia, Shirimati Aneeta, Yasmeen, Fareeda and Nasreen breathed their last before they could get any first aid.
The deceased persons were the residents of Latifabad, Hyderabad City and Kotri. Three others namely Saira d/o Muhammad Idrees Ansari, Sadaf and Nasreen who received injuries were shifted to the Liaquat University Hospital. The bodies were handed over to their relatives after completion of the medico-legal formalities while treatment is being provided to injured persons.
