Siraj rues horse trading of MPs for Senate polls
LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) take notice of the open horse trading of parliamentarians just ahead of Senate elections.
In a statement on Saturday, he said votes of the members of parliament were being purchased, posing serious threats to the national security and solidarity.
He said those reaching the Upper House of the parliament on the basis of wealth would be an easy prey for the enemies of the state, and the sanctity of the constitutional institutions would be destroyed beyond recovery.
He demanded permanent blacklisting of those against whom proofs of selling out conscience were found.
He asked the people to reject the corrupt and opportunist candidates in the coming general elections and elect the patriotic and honest people to help rebuild the nation.
