MWM chief condemns target killings in DI Khan
ISLAMABAD: Majlis Wahdat e Muslimeen Secretary General Allama Nasir Abbas Jaffary on Friday strongly condemned the wave of target killings in Dera Ismail Khan, urging the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of this gory trend.
Speaking to the media here, the MWM leader also called for handing over the region to the military, as the civilian government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had failed to protect the innocent citizens in the district, which had been left at the mercy of terrorists. “Almost daily target killings are a proof of the so-called reformed KP Police’s failure,” he charged.
He lamented that despite the presence of police check posts at all major roads in the district and mobile police, the incidents of target killing and terrorism were creating apprehensions in the minds of people.
Allama Nasir emphasised that tangible results of anti-terrorism drive would be achieved only after taking on the terrorist mindset, as young children were being brainwashed to kill followers of other school of thought for a reward in Jannah. “As long as those spreading typical ideology and their facilitators are not taken to task, the nation will not witness lasting peace and security of life,” he contended.
He alleged the KP government had failed to protect life of its inhabitants and he called on PTI Chairman Imran Khan to seek an explanation from Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak for this failure. “We are not only facing the menace of terrorism but also indifference of the police,” he went on to allege.
To a question, he said that they were in touch with the under attack community in Dera Ismail Khan and the future strategy on how to get them protected, would be thrashed out shortly in consultations with them.
