Rehman Malik takes notice of DI Khan target killings
ISLAMABAD: Senate Committee on Interior Chairman Senator Abdul Rehman Malik took notice of the recent incidents of target killings in Dera Ismail Khan, where two persons including Iftikhar Hussain and Matiullah became victims of the target killing.
The chairman Senate’s Committee directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Secretary and IG Police to submit reports to the committee and also appear before the committee to brief it on the recent target killings in DI Khan.
In the meanwhile, General Secretary Pakistan People’s Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi called on former President and President Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians Asif Ali Zardari at the Zardari House Islamabad and apprised him of the dire law and order situation in Dera Ismail Khan.
Faisal Karim Kundi said that killing of local population is continuing with impunity in DI Khan but the KP government is silent over the issue. The KP government neither arrested any target killer nor has compensated the victims' families. “The PTI government has not expressed any compassion towards the bereaved families. The KP government is not fulfilling its responsibility,” he told the former president.
The former president instructed Faisal Karim Kundi to extend all possible legal and moral assistance to the bereaved families.
On this occasion, former interior minister and Chairman Standing Committee of the Senate for Interior Rehman Malik informed Asif Ali Zardari that he has taken suo moto notice of the incidents in DI Khan and has asked the IG Police and Home Secretary of KP to present reports in this regard.
