Senate polls: PTI delegation meets Siraj
LAHORE: PTI delegation led by its candidate for Senate Chaudhry Sarwar called on JI Amir Siraj ul Haq on Wednesday at Mansoora to seek JI’s support for upcoming elections of upper house of parliament. Those who visited the JI headquarters also included opposition leader Mian Mehmood ul Rasheed, MPA Sibtain Khan whereas JI Parliamentary leader Dr Waseem Akhter was present during the meeting.
The PTI delegation requested JI’s cooperation in the upcoming senate polls for which PTI has fielded Ch Sarwar. PTI needs at least 47 votes of MPAs to clinch the senate slot whereas its current strength in Punjab Assembly is 34 including the four independent members. JI has one seat of Dr Waseem Akhter whereas PPP and PML-Q have eight MPAs each.
Later, the meeting of joint committee of PTI and PML-Q also finalised the future strategy of senate elections. Committee members including Kamil Ali Agha, Chaudhry Zaheer ud Din, and Opposition leader Mehmood ul Rasheed agreed to adopt joint path for the Senate elections.
