Chaudhrys discuss Senate polls with Zardari
LAHORE: The PML-Q leadership on Sunday called on PPP Co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari at the Bilawal House here.
PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujat Hussain, former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, party candidate for Senate Kamil Ali Agha and others attended the meeting. PPP leaders including former PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and former CM Manzoor Wattoo were also present. Sources said the meeting discussed all options pertaining to the upcoming Senate polls for which the PPP is in run with Nawab Shehzad, son-in-law of Manzoor Wattoo, seeking general seat. This is noteworthy that the PTI has also approached the PML-Q, a party with 8 MPAs in the Punjab Assembly, to garner its support for Chaudhry Sarwar. However, the PML-Q and the PPP, which have been pitching joint candidates from Punjab since 2012, have so far shown no green signal to the PTI, the largest opposition party in the Punjab Assembly with 34 MPAs.
