Stage actress killed in Mardan
MARDAN: A stage actress and model was shot dead at Sheikh Maltoon Town here on Saturday, police said.
One Mir Bahadur told the police that Naeem Khattak, resident of Charsadda, Jehangir Khan, and Naseeb Shah, both residents of Peshawar, killed his granddaughter Sumbal at their house.
He said the accused wanted Sumbal to accompany them to a music show but she refused to oblige, which infuriated them.
He alleged the accused opened fire on Sumbal and killed her on the spot. A case was registered against the accused at the Sheikh Maltoon Town Police Station. The accused escaped after committing the crime.
Sources said that Naeem Khattak is a former police officer and Jehangir Khan is the alleged killer of Ghazala Javed, who was a well-known Pashto singer. They added that Sumbal had appeared in several Pashto CD dramas and advertisements.
