Amn Jirga stages protest against police in Mardan
MARDAN: The Amn Jirga on Friday staged a protest outside Mardan Press Club against the non-arrest of killers of Asma, Naqeebullah Mahsud and Asma Rani. The protesters blocked the Shamshi Road to express anger at the police failure to arrest the killers of Asma, a four years-old girl at Gujjar Garhi. Amn Jirga head Syed Kamal Shah and other office bearers of the body led the rally. Syed Kamal Shah in his address criticized the local police. He said police could not arrest the accused even after 18 days of the murder of four-year old Asma at Gujjar Garhi. He believed that local police official had mishandled the murder cases of Mashal Khan, varsity student who was lynched, and Asma. Syed Kamal Shah asked the provincial government to conduct inquiry against local police officer for allegedly mishandling the murder cases. The jirga chief demanded immediate arrest of the killers of Asma Rani and Naqeebullah Mahsud. He threatened to lay siege to the Chief Minister's House in Peshawar if the accused were not arrested.
