Irfan Mangi appointed DG NAB Rawalpindi amid major reshuffle
ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Tuesday made a major reshuffle and postings at the regional offices by appointing Irfan Naeem Mangi as Director General, NAB Rawalpindi, in place of Nasir Iqbal who is now posted as a DG Prevention Cell at the headquarters.
Irfan Naeem Mangi has served as member of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to probe former premier Nawaz Sharif’s assets inthe Panama Papers case. Before posting as DG NAB Rawalpindi, Irfan Mangi was heading the NAB Balochistan as its DG.
Now being posted as a DG NAB Rawalpindi, Irfan Naeem Mangi will oversee corruption references and investigations against Sharif family, which were filed by the NAB on the orders of the Supreme Court in its Panama case verdict in September last year.
DG NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Brigadier (R) Farooq Awan was also transferred to NAB headquarters as Director Training and Research while Director NAB Farmanullah has been appointed in his place. Director NAB Irfan Baig has been appointed as NAB Balochistan DG and Mirza Saleem as Director Training and Research at the NAB Headquarters.
The chairman NAB has ordered all the officers of NAB to perform their duties in accordance with law. The officers have also been directed to conduct complaint verification, inquiries, investigations and conclude the cases within 10 months prescribed time frame in the light of solid evidence as per law.
He said that eradication of corruption is not only priority of NAB but is also our national duty. According to sources, the chairman NAB has already expressed disappointment on the performance of the NAB regions for not taking cases to the logical end as 499 inquiries and 287 investigations are under process in Regional bureaus of NAB and have not been completed in prescribed timeframe of 10 months as per SOP/law.
The under trial references including 347 of NAB Lahore, 275 references of NAB Karachi, 185 references of NAB KP, 97 references of NAB Balochistan, 171 references of NAB Rawalpindi, 34 references of NAB Multan and 29 references of NAB Sukkur are under trial in respective accountability courts throughout the country.
