CM takes notice of police torture of maid in Gujranwala
LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the alleged torture of a housemaid by police in Gujranwala and sought a report from Gujranwala RPO.
He directed a strict action against police officials responsible for the incident. He said the investigation report should be presented soon. He formed an inquiry team consisting of the commissioner Gujranwala and SSP Abdul Wahab to look into the matter.
On the other hand, the chief minister congratulated the Pakistan cricket team for winning T20 series against New Zealand. He also greeted the cricket team for getting first position in the ICC ranking for the T20 format. He extended greetings to captain Sarfraz Ahmed and other players, and said Pakistani cricketers have displayed excellent skills and achieved a distinguished place in the T20 format.
The chief minister also expressed grief over the death of mother of former test cricketer Aqib Javed. In his condolence message, he conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed that Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace.
Meanwhile, the chief minister said public service and country’s development was his mission, the PML-N has set new examples in this regard, and it will neither step back from its mission nor can anybody force us to do this.
He said they have no other priority than resolving problems of the people. He said the PML-N government has utilised the national resources in the best possible way and record development and welfare projects have been completed by the government and nobody can point an accusing finger at our projects. He expressed these views Sunday while talking to representatives from various districts.
Public service cannot be done through hollow slogans and those who are raising slogans and lofty claims in this regard are deprived of the ambition of public service, he added. He said those who wanted to obstruct development have failed and now the people will hold them accountable. He said our political opponents are confused due to speedy progress of the country and those who have ignored the people in their provinces are afraid of facing them in the general elections.
