National Boxing title for Army
LAHORE: Pakistan Army won the 36th National Men Boxing Championship 2018 that concluded here at Wapda Sports Complex.
Wapda emerged runners-up in the event and as PAF secured third position. Army for top position secured 125 points through seven gold medals and two silver medals.
Wapda who emerged runners- up secured 85 points with three gold medals, three silver two bronze medals. PAF for their spot earned 45 points for which they earned two silver medals and five bronze medals.
Pakistan Navy who finished fourth with 25 points got two silver medals and one bronze. Pakistan Railways and Punjab got fifth and sixth positions with 20 points each.
Amer Ahmed, President, Wapda Sports Board, who was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Former Test cricketer Shafqat Rana, Advisor sports Wapda, Brig Ghulam Jilani Director Army Sports Directorate and Syed Muhammad Abid Qadir Gilani, Vice President POA Patron Pakistan Handball Federation,also gave away the prizes..Begum Amer Ahmed who was also present on the occasion distributed cash prizes to the women boxers who participated in the 1st National Boxing Women Championship.
