LONDON: Hamza Shahbaz Sharif has said that Nawaz Sharif’s narrative of “injustice to him” on Iqama disqualification is the voice of masses and his supporters.

Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that justice should not be done but seen to be done and when its clearly seen that there are double-standards of justice then legitimate questions will arise.

Hamza Shahbaz was talking to Geo News after visiting his aunt Begum Kulsoom Nawaz to inquire after her at Hasan Nawaz Sharif’s flat in Mayfair.

“It is said that government is for the people and by the people. It’s people’s decision. Look at what happened to the combined opposition in Lahore where dozens of parties put together were greeted by a sea of empty chairs. Look at the recent by-election result in Chakwal where PML-N candidate won by a margin of almost 30 thousand. Ultimately, we have to take our message the people of Pakistan. It’s important that justice should be done and seen to be done too. It’s duty of the courts to use the same yardstick for everyone. Its duty of the courts to show justice is being done. People are looking at everything and know what’s happening. The last resort is the court of people,” Hamza Shahbaz said in reference to Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on the basis of Iqama while giving clean chit to Imran Khan despite the fact Imran told the court he owned Niazi Services Limited offshore.

Hamza said that thumping victory of PML-N in Chakwal shows the trust of people in PML-N policies and the fact that “we have performed” and its “on the basis of performance that all parties should go to public and let voters decide who will run the next government, that’s democratic way is the only way forward”.

Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that Begum Kulsoom Nawaz is undergoing cancer treatment in London and will go for the last session of Chemo next month.

“Alhamdullillah, she is much better than before. It’s due to the duas of people that she has progressed well and Insha Allah it’s our prayer that she gets perfectly fine soon and will return to Pakistan. I appeal to everyone to pray for her health, there is no relation more precious than that of a mother.”

Hamza paid tribute to Begum Kulsoom Nawaz for standing up against the dictatorship of Musharraf and recalled how they put up a fight and suffered on many counts. “It’s due to the sacrifices made then that democracy return to Pakistan.”

He said that all parties that worked together for the restoration of democracy and elections should work together in the interests of Pakistan.
