Naseem retains U21 snooker title
ISLAMABAD: Favourite world junior champion Muhammad Naseem Akhtar (Punjab) successfully defended the National Junior Under-21 Snooker Championship title overwhelming Muhammad Shahbaz (Punjab) 6-3 in the final here at the PSB Billiards and Snooker Hall on Friday.
Naseem won 63-26, 107-17(74), 23-60, 60-17, 35-66, 51-64, 61-12, 59-05, 65-53) to stamp his superiority.Naseem collected prize money of Rs50,000 and trophy while runner-up Muhammad Shahbaz was awarded Rs25,000 and a trophy. Another Rs5,000 was awarded to Naseem for making the highest break of 111.
Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Mian Riaz Hussain Peerzada was the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners. Pakistan Sports Board Director General Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) President Munawar Shaikh, Alamgir Sheikh, Former President PBSA and SVP Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports Fayyaz Ahmed Khan, EVP Jubilee Insurance Ijaz Mehmood and JEVP Jubilee Insurance were also present on the occasion.
