COAS confirms death to 10 terrorists
RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday confirmed death sentences to 10 hardcore terrorists awarded by the military courts.
The convicts were involved in terrorist activities, killing of innocent civilians, attacks on educational institutions, slaughtering of soldiers, and attacking law enforcement agencies and armed forces of Pakistan, said a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The condemned terrorists were involved in the killing of 41 personnel and causing injuries to 33 others. Arms and explosives were also recovered on their person. They confessed to their involvement in heinous offences before the magistrate and trial court.
Besides these 10 terrorists, another three convicts were awarded imprisonment for varying period by the military courts. Samiur Rahman and Azeem Khan were members of a proscribed organisation and were involved in attacking law enforcement agencies and armed forces, which resulted in martyrdom of Major Muhammad Ihsan, nine soldiers and two police officials besides injuries to 13 others.
They were also found in possession of firearms and explosives. Arshad Bilal and Anwar Ali were also members of a proscribed organisation and were involved in attacking armed forces, which resulted in th martyrdom of nine soldiers as well as injuries to nine others.
They were also involved in destruction of Government Boys Primary School, Langer, Swat and found in possession of firearms and explosives. Muhammad Aleem and Fazal Aleem Abdul Rasheed were also members of a proscribed organisation.
They were involved in attacking law enforcement agencies and armed forces of Pakistan, resulting in martyrdom of four soldiers.They were also involved in destruction of Government Boys' High School, Nangolai, Swat.
Convict Rasool Muhammad was member of a proscribed organisation. He was involved in attacking law enforcement agencies and armed forces, which resulted in martyrdom of four soldiers.
The convict also abetted other terrorists in slaughtering of civilian Said Raheem, Assistant Sub Inspector Irshad Ali, and Head Constables Sarwar Ali Khan and Sher Ahmed. Sohail Ahmed was member of a proscribed organisation.
He was involved in killing of innocent civilians and attacking law enforcement agencies, resulting in the martyrdom of three civilians, Sub Inspector Mustafa Khan, a constable of police and injuries to four others.
He was also found in possession of explosives. Naimat Ullah, member of a proscribed organisation, was involved in attacking the armed forces, which resulted in martyrdom of two soldiers and injuries to four others. He was also found in possession of firearms and explosives. Rahmat Ali, member of a proscribed organisation, was involved in attacking the armed forces, which resulted in martyrdom of a soldier. He was also found in possession of firearms.
