KHAR: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Saturday staged a ‘thanksgiving’ rally to celebrate the passage of a bill in the National Assembly extending the jurisdiction of the superior courts to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
Local JI leader Sardar Khan led the rally. A number of other JI workers joined him in the rally. JI Bajaur chapter leaders Mian Sahibur Rehman, Maulana Waheed Gul, Hameed Sufi and others were present on the occasion.
Addressing the rally, Sardar Khan said the tribal people were deprived of the basic rights. He said the tribespeople strived for years to get their due rights.
He asked the federal government to merge the tribal areas into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to end the sense of deprivation among them.
Our corresponds adds from Parachinar: The tribespeople in Kurram Agency on Saturday distributed sweets to celebrate the extension of the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and Peshawar High Court to Fata.
Jamshed Sherazi, Mujahid Hussain and Ramazan Ali of the Fata Students Organisation expressed happiness over the development.
