Former Olympians slam PHF working
LAHORE: Former hockey Olympians on Friday have lashed at the way the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is being run and appealed NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal to take immediate notice of PHF affairs.
In a joint press conference, Olympians of golden era Los Angeles 1984 gold medallist team great Manzoor Junior, Olympian Kh Junaid, Col Mohsin Ali, and Khalid Bashir, went into details about the PHF affairs to formulate future strategy for the revival of the national sport. Rao Saleem Nazim, Kh Owais and Babar Ansari, president Lahore Hockey Association were also present on the occasion. Manzoor expressed his belief that soon all the affair of PHF will be clear before everyone. “Pakistan hockey is at its lowest ebb. The current set-up of federation did nothing for the development and promotion of hockey.” Kh Junaid stated that the World XI visiting Pakistan is a bunch of veteran players. “Pakistan team is only touring Australia and no other country,” he said and added that the Olympians should also be respected even after having left the game. Col Mohsin said that their purpose is only the revival of hockey. NAB Chairman has taken notice of PHF affairs and soon truth will be open for all, he said.
