LAHORE: A half-century by Venkateshwara Rao guided India to seven-wicket win over Pakistan in the league match of the Blind Cricket World Cup at Ajman Oval in United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday.
Pakistan went into the match without five of their key players, Badar Munir, Riassat Khan, Sajid Nawaz, Mohsin Khan and Rashid Khan, who could not get visas in time to travel to UAE.
India won the toss and chose to field. Pakistan scored 282 for the loss of 8 wickets in 40 overs. Mohammad Jalil made 90 before he was retired hurt. In reply, India reached the target with five overs to spare.
With this win, India climbed to the top of their group, followed by Pakistan. Pakistan had defeated Bangladesh and Nepal in the previous games.
India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the World Cup forced the organisers to shift their matches to UAE.
