IPO’s online services from Feb

ISLAMABAD: Intellectual Property Organisation Pakistan, the apex regulator of copyrights, trademarks, patents, etc in the country, is launching its online services in February this year, a statement said on Friday.

It was revealed during a meeting between the top officials of the organisation and representatives of ‘EU Delegation to Pakistan’, the European Union’s diplomatic mission in Islamabad.

“The European Union diplomats were given a detailed presentation about the latest developments and initiatives recently taken by Intellectual Property Organisation Pakistan,” the statement said.

These measures, the statement added, included automation of intellectual property registries, one window operation at Karachi, effective intellectual property rights (IPR) enforcement & coordination, enhanced public awareness campaign, international coordination, and revision of relevant laws in the light of prevailing global intellectual property environment.

The statement said the members of the EU mission spoke highly of Intellectual Property Organisation Pakistan for its achievements.

“The EU delegation members also assured the orgnanisation of strengthening cooperation for intellectual property rights developments in the country,” the statement said.

The IPO Pakistan was represented by Meesaq Arif, executive director, Muhammad Naseer, executive director, and Muhammad Ismail, director (enforcement) while Franck Olivier Roux, first counselor and head of political, trade and communication section, Husnain A. Iftakhar, senior economist/trade officer and Roshan Ara, program officer, trade and development were part of the EU delegation to Pakistan team.
