LAHORE: NAB Lahore has arrested two persons namely Muhammad Abbas and Anwarul Haq for depriving people of their hard earned money and causing a loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.
In a case of cheating public at large, NAB Lahore arrested Muhammad Abbas from Wazirabad who cheated the masses on the pretext of doubling their investment within 15 to 30 days. NAB Lahore started the verifications of the complaints which turned into ‘inquiry’ and later in an ‘investigation’ against the accused, whereas, the accused Muhammad Abbas went underground.
During the course of investigation, it was disclosed that by misappropriation and hoodwinking public, the accused in connivance with his wife, Najma Bibi, managed to lure public and looted Rs6.539 million. Keeping investigations and findings intact, NAB Lahore filed a corruption reference against the accused in an accountability court in 2015. In an intelligence-based raid, NAB Lahore took custody of accused Muhammad Abbas from Wazirabad.
In another case of corruption and corrupt practices, NAB Lahore arrested Anwarul Haq from Lahore over the allegations of fabricating fake plot files of Mustafa Town in Lahore, and exempted the liable taxes. The accused in connivance with other co-accused was involved in fabricating illegal exemption of plots of Mustafa Town in his name and derived wrongful gains for himself by obtaining illegal exemptions and later by transferring the same files to others which caused Rs5.321 million loss to the national kitty. NAB Lahore produced both accused; Muhammad Abbas and Anwarul Haq before an accountability court for seeking their physical remand. The court granted physical remand of both the accused until January 22.
