NAB board recommends inquiry against Ogra member

ISLAMABAD: The Regional Board of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rawalpindi/Islamabad, has forwarded complaint verification to the Karachi NAB for further action against Member Gas (Ogra) and others regarding misuse of authority for award of LNG Terminal Construction licence to M/s Engro Terminal, Pakistan, as the matter is already under inquiry at Karachi NAB.

The Regional Board meeting (RBM) of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rawalpindi/Islamabad, was held here on Wednesday with its Director General Nasir Iqbal in the chair which recommended for filing a reference against officers/officials of the Federal Employees Benevolent Group Insurance Fund (FEB GIF) and others.

The accused persons, while misusing their authority, illegally invested funds in Term of Finance Certificates in various unrated companies causing loss of Rs738 million to state exchequer. The case sent to the Headquarters for final approval. The NAB Regional Board Rawalpindi/Islamabad also recommended up gradation of inquiry into investigation against officers/ officials of the CDA and others as the accused, while misusing their authority illegally restored the surrendered commercial Plot No20, Sector F-11/1, Islamabad, causing a loss of Rs300 million to national exchequer.

The RBM also authorised two inquiries against two post masters Gulmit, Gilgit Baltistan, on the allegation of embezzlement of Rs11.735 million and Rs9.58 million as the matter was referred by the department concerned to NAB for taking action under the NAO, 1999.
