PESHAWAR: A group of workers of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) from Chitral announced to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) here on Saturday.
The announcement was made by former PPP activists Mukhtar Ahmad, Sikandar Azam and JI’s Abdul Hameed during a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club.
PTI leaders including Member Provincial Assembly Fozia Bibi, Rehmat Ghazi and others were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, they said the PTI-led provincial government was taking practical steps for welfare and development of the underprivileged areas of the province.
They said efforts were also being made to eradicate corruption and introduce self-accountability. “The PTI is the only political force that can change the destiny of the nation and address the present-day challenges,” Fozia Bibi said.
She welcomed the new entrants to the PTI, saying it showed that people were stratified with performance of the provincial government.
The MPA expressed the hope that stalwarts from other parties would soon join the PTI.
Regarding the closure of the Lowari Tunnel, she said the government was taking all possible steps to ease the miseries of the people of Chitral.
Rehmat Ghazi, PTI senior leader from Chitral, said the provincial government was taking steps for development and uplift of the district. He added it was the top priority of the government to provide facilities and mitigate sufferings of the people.
