NCHR condemns Kasur child abuse incident
Islamabad: National Commission on Human Rights (NCHR) Chairman Justice (r) Ali Nawaz Chowhan has strongly condemned the incident of child abuse in Kasur.
It is pertinent to remember that at the occurrence of previous incidents, the Chairman NCHR Justice Retired Ali Nawaz Chowhan along with his team had visited Kasur for fact finding as a result of which a report was compiled based on the interviews of victims and their families.
"There were very solid and sound recommendations which had been forwarded in the report but it is highly painful to acknowledge that no concrete steps have been taken by the District administration of Kasur to curb the recurrence of such grave incidents. The present incident is an example of inaptitude of the responsibly authorities who have failed to address the issue in an appropriate manner to curb its future recurrence thus resulting in the occurrence such incidents," said the NCHR statement issued on Wednesday.
In October 2017 the Chairman NCHR Justice (r) Ali Nawaz Chowhan along with his team revisited Kasur to analyse the situation of abuses being constantly reported. "The present incident of child abuse is evident of the fact that the administration responsible to check and curb such incidents have failed to perform their duties. Government needs to take revolutionary steps to keep the situation under control not allowing abusers to act wildly. High responsibility of the parliamentary, religious leaders and scholars of the area to take note if the situation and reflect the issue in their preliminary address to prayers," the statement mentions.
