Sibtain retains top table tennis seat
KARACHI: As was expected, SM Sibtain retained the seat of president of Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) at the electoral meeting at Karachi Gymkhana on Sunday.
Punjab Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Ahmer Mallick was elected as secretary. The representatives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Army, Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Islamabad walked out of the meeting due to various reasons.
Balochistan, National Highway Authority (NHA) and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) also walked out of the meeting, but none of them were eligible to cast vote.This correspondent has learnt that Balochistan Table Tennis Association (BTTA) had not held its elections and so was defunct, while NHA and OGDCL had no voting rights.
Balochistan Olympic Association (BOA) had confirmed that the BTTA elections had not been conducted.Sibtain told ‘The News’ that Balochistan Table Tennis Association’s elections would be conducted within three months.
The election commissioner Younis Rizwani conducted the elections. Sindh Olympic Association’s (SOA) secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput attended the meeting as the observer from the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), while Agha Amjad was present as the observer from the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).
WAPDA’s Saqlain Zahoor Raja was elected as deputy president, while Asma Najeeb of Punjab got elected as lady vice-president.Sindh’s Tauqeer Muhajar got the portfolio of treasurer. Shahzada Islam, Irfanullah Khan and Saleem Ahmed were nominated as provincial vice-presidents. The nomination of Attaul Mohsin of NHA, who was running for vice-president post, was declared invalid.
