Khwaja Hoti accuses PTI govt, Mardan police of harassment
PESHAWAR: Former federal minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti said on Friday that he would protest against the injustice of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government and Mardan Police.
Talking to The News, he said the PTI-led government claimed to have depoliticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police but its ministers were trying to harass their political opponents through the police.
The PPP leader said they would hold a protest meeting on Tuesday and expand their movement to the province to stop the rulers from victimising their political opponents through the police.
Khwaja Hoti said they faced military dictators in the past and would resist the illegal activities of PTI government and its ministers. He said they would continue their protest campaign till the acceptance of their demands and removal of the deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Mardan Range.
He said it was his responsibility to expose the corrupt ministers. He said he would present proof to the media about of the corruption of PTI ministers and explain it in public meetings.
The PTI ministers were living in a fool’s paradise to think they could pressure him and his party through such tactics, he added.
Khwaja Hoti recalled that he had never supported any corrupt and criminal elements in the past and would not do so in future.
The PPP leader alleged that instead of maintaining law and order, the Mardan Police patronised car-lifters and smugglers. He warned to register case against the district police officer and DIG Mardan if anything happened to him or his workers.
