Astroturf to be laid at POF hockey ground
WAH: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and POF Tuesday signed an MoU to lay a new Astroturf at the POF hockey ground here at the sports complex in Wah Cantt through PSDP, says a press release.
To revive the national game a national level hockey academy will also be established in collaboration with the PHF. The PHF and POF officials will jointly be responsible for the maintenance of Astroturf as per international standard.
All the operational work regarding laying of Astroturf and establishment of academy will be done by the PHF. However, POF officials will assist PHF experts in this regard. The PHF will also recommend young and talented hockey players for induction in the POF as employees.
All players, coaches and officials employed by the POF on the recommendation of PHF would be required to follow the training program as approved by POF Sports Board. Coaching programmes will be started in schools and local clubs through the PHF by engaging national and international coaches. International players will also be invited by the PHF to participate in the training camps which would certainly raise the standard of the POF players.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation would hold at least four national level tournaments every year at POF Sports Complex in Wah. POF will hold local, departmental and inter-departmental tournaments at the same venue.
