After his critically acclaimed performance at Coke Studio Season 7 with ‘Nadiya’ and ‘Pehla Pyar’, leading Pakistani music star Jimmy Khan has released his rendition of Lata Mangeshkar’s “Ajeeb Dastaan”.
The original song featured in Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai, a 1960 Bollywood movie with iconic sub-continental actors Raaj Kumar and Meena Kumari. A ballad written on the intricacies and complications of romance, Jimmy Khan’s rendition of “Ajeeb Dastaan” also features musician Rahma Ali on vocals, both having previously collaborated for a performance at the Coke Studio Season 7 session with ‘Nadiya’. Jimmy Khan’s “Ajeeb Dastaan” also features Zain Ahsan on ukulele, Sameer Ahmed on bass and Raavail Sattar on percussions.
Speaking about the release of the song Jimmy said Ajeeb Dastaan is a song about whom he was extremely excited to release because not only is it a classic but it is a song he was personally attached to it for many reasons.
He said it has been a family favourite ever since he remembers, and he has been performing on this song on his own for several years.
He said Zain Ahsan suggested him to collaborate with talented Rahma Ali again and then they did this superb work.
Produced by Zain Ahsan, “Ajeeb Dastaan” was recorded and mixed by Mekaal Hasan and directed by Mahad Ali Sajid and Diyach Thebo.
Nida’s collection: Nida Azwer’s ‘The Bahaar Collection’ is all set to pay homage to the vintage and more classic signature in harmony with the representation of a more Western aesthetic at the much anticipated Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Expo 2015. The Nida Azwer Atelier’s first runway show for 2015 is set to be staged. Nida Azwer reveals “The Bahaar Collection”, which as the name suggests, is inspired by the season of spring.
In a nod to spring, the collection is based in hues of yellow, pink and blues moving into shades of oranges with a design theme that is predominantly floral. “The Bahaar Collection” has been constructed across a variety of luxe fabrics including organza, silks, nets, chiffons, cotton nets and masuri embellished with digital, embroidery, crystals, zardozi, and thread work. Speaking about her showcase at the TDAP Expo show, Nida Azwer has said: “This is the first time our brand is participating at the TDAP Expo.
Our atelier wholeheartedly supports TDAP’s endeavours to promote Pakistani fashion and retail. In terms of this collection, it is quintessentially a mix of formals and luxury pret. It is ideal for the spring collection because of its vibrant and fresh colour palette and floral theme infused with modern silhouettes”.
