NBP upset SSGC in National Hockey
LAHORE: Wednesday was the rest day at the Super Round of the 64th National Hockey Championships in Sukkur.
However in the match played late Tuesday, last year’s runners-up National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) had an upset 4-1 win over a strong Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).
Scorers for NBP: Abubakr, Bilal Qadir, Attique Arshad and Junaid Manzoor. For SSGC scorer was Azfar Yaqoob
Earlier Navy drew 1-1 with the strong Wapda. Ali Sher scored for Navy whereas Khizer Akhtar netted for Wapda. In the match between Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Customs, SNGPL won 4-2. Scorers for SNGPL were Zubair, Ghulam Abbas, Ayub Ali & Samiullah. Customs got goals through Farhan & Adnan Babar. Young international Awaisur Rahman, a prolific scorer for the Fauji Fertiliser Company (FFC), excelled with a hat-trick as the FFC trounced Punjab 8-1. Asfanyar, Afaraz Khan, Ilyas, Taimoor Malik and Faizan Alvi were the other scorers for the winners. Jahangir Ali netted Punjab’s consolation goal.
