Navy, SNGPL, FFC win in national hockey
KARACHI: Navy continued with their good form at the Super Round of the 64th National Hockey Championships in Sukkur when they held a strong WAPDA side to a 1-1 draw.
Ali Sher scored for Navy, who had surprised the holders PIA a few days back. International Khizar Akhter struck for WAPDA.The match between two young sides of SNGPL and Customs was also a closely fought affair but SNGPL emerged out as the winners, clinching the match by 4-2. Both teams played attacking hockey throughout the game.
Zubair, Ghulam Abbas, Ayub Ali and Samiullah scored for SNGPL. Farhan and Adnan scored for Customs. Young international Awaisur Rahman, a prolific goal scorer, starred with an emphatic hat-trick for the Fauji Fertilizer Company, who are appearing in the national championship for the first time. They continued their unbeaten run when they trounced Punjab 8-1.Asfandyar, Afraz Khan, Ilyas, Taimoor Malik and Faizan Alvi were the other scorers for the winners. Jahangir Ali netted Punjab’s only goal.
