COAS briefing
Videos secured to ascertain who breached House rules
By Tahir Khalil
ISLAMABAD: All is set to proceed against the senators who had disclosed the contents of an in-camera briefing given by the Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to the Senate Committee of the Whole recently.
The Senate Secretariat has achieved the video record of private channels through the Pemra and other departments for identification of the senators.
Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani passed a ruling during the current session that
the senators who tarnished the image of the House would be proceeded against.
According to sources, Rabbani wanted to present this issue before the Business Consultative Committee of House so as to stall the recurrence of any such incident in future but the government suddenly deferred the session. However, there are several options available with the Senate chairman.
The responsible senators can face suspension of one or more than one day besides withdrawal of perks and privileges.
