Merit violation leads to brain drain: Pervez Khattak
NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Saturday that the country was suffering from brain drain due to violation of merit and lack of opportunities.
Speaking at a function in connection with the Christmas day in Risalpur, he said, “We would have to prevent the brain drain because the country needed the educated and talented youth to stand on its feet.”
He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government recognised the importance of merit and upheld the same in all the government institutions.
The chief minister said the PTI raised the slogan of making a new Pakistan and a welfare state where people would have equal opportunities and minorities’ rights would be protected.
The PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government tried its best to implement its election manifesto and changed the decades old faulty system during its rule in the province, he added.
Pervez Khattak said that it took the PTI four years to revamp the faulty system and bring the institutions on the right track.
He said that the successive governments hoodwinked the people through hollow slogans and then ignored the genuine problems of people after reaching the corridors of power.
The PTI restored the self-respect and confidence of people in the government departments, he said, adding, he was part of this system for 36-year and studied it very closely.
He said that the provincial government brought reforms in education, health, revenue, police and other departments and made them true public servants.
The youth were looking towards the PTI chief Imran Khan as he was the only leader who can steer the country out of the prevailing morass and put it on the right track, he added.
He hoped the PTI would win the next general elections and form government at the Centre and all provinces.
