PHC suspends notification on NOC cancellation to NGO
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday suspended the Provincial Disaster Management Authority’s notification on cancelation of no-objection certificate (NOC) and ban on the activities of Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP), a non-governmental organisation, in the province.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Muhammad Nasir Mehfooz and Justice Shakeel Ahmad suspended the notification till the next order of the court.
The bench also directed the respondents, including PDMA and secretary Home and Tribal Affairs, to explain why NOC of the NGO was cancelled.
Naveed Shinwari, Chief Executive Officer of CAMP, had filed the writ petition through his lawyer Aminur Rehman Yousafzai. He sought an order of the court to declare the provincial government’s notification on cancellation of the NOC and imposing ban on the activities of the organisation as void and direct the government to lift ban on the projects and activities of the organisation.
During the course of hearing, counsel for the petitioner submitted that the organisation had been working since 2002 with underprivileged communities in Pakistan.
He claimed the organisation had so far successfully completed 114 projects with the collaboration of national and international funding agencies.
