15,000 cops for Christmas security

LAHORE: DIG Dr Haider Ashraf has said that at least 15,000 police personnel will perform security duty on the occasion of Christmas to avert any untoward incident in the provincial metropolis.

He also greeted the Christian community and cops on the occasion of Christmas. The DIG said the churches had been divided into three categories to provide foolproof security to them. He said terrorists could not demoralise Lahore police due to their cowardly activities. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines. SP Faisal Shahzad, SP City Adil Memon and 60 Christian cops were also present.

LWMC: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), an organization of some 6,000 Christian employees, organised a Christmas cake cutting and ration distribution ceremony to express solidarity with the Christian community here at Town Hall.

The ceremony was attended by Chairman LWMC Col (r) Mubashir Javed, deputy mayors, Christian clerics and management of LWMC, Albrayak and Ozpak. The ceremony was comprised of prayers by Christian community, choir by school students, ornamenting Christmas tree, cutting of Christmas cake and distribution of ration bags among Christian employees. Col (r) Mubashir said all our activities during the month of December were aimed at wishing and facilitating our Christian employees with respect to Christmas.

Lahore Waste Management Company have took certain measures in this regard such as organising cake cutting ceremonies in zones followed by today’s main ceremony, payment of advance salary along with an additional annual incentive.

A spokesperson for LWMC said in this regard, special cleanliness arrangements in and around Christian localities; churches and recreational places have been made across the city. This will be directly monitored by LWMC assistant manager.

Moreover, LWMC in collaboration with Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has made special arrangements for the families of Christian workers to enjoy free recreational visits to Race Course park and Gulshan-e-Iqbal park on 25th December. Families of workers will be able to enjoy free rides at both parks.

Ceremony: The Non-Teaching Staff Association of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore organised a ceremony for its Christian employees in connection with the Christmas Day here Friday in City Campus Lahore.

According to a press release issued here, Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha presided over the Christmas cake-cutting ceremony while Pastor Jawaid Tara, UVAS Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, and many Christian employees of the university attended the function.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof Pasha congratulated the Christian employees on celebrating the Christmas. ETPB: The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) chairman and members held a meeting on Friday and deliberated on various issues.

In a statement issued here, the meeting discussed the ongoing development projects, Pakistan Model Educational Institutional Foundation, Janki Devi Hospital, upgrade of human resource and other issues. The participants also cut a Charismas cake and congratulated the Christian community on Christmas.
