300-bed gynae institute starts functioning in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: With a total cost of Rs65 million, the 300-bed Institute of Gynaecology and Neonatology (IGN) has started functioning upon its completion.

Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani and the members of District Red Crescent Society executive body formally inaugurated the newly-constructed building on Sunday.

The 24-hour facilities of labour room, operation theatre, high risk patient unit, OPD and emergency medical services will be available in this institute. The IGN has been recognised by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan for postgraduate training in Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS). The newly-constructed building is adjacent to the current Hilal-e-Ahmar Maternity Hospital in the heart of the city. Seven new wards have been established with the donation of local industrialists and business community. The IGN is a great addition to the health facilities for the maternity patients in the city. The institute will run under the District Red Crescent Society.

The philanthropists announced taking responsibilities of repair and maintenance of their specified ward. They also termed the project a blessing for the gynaec patients, saying the services of this maternity hospital are of top-notch quality which will help share the burden of government hospitals. DC Ghani announced establishing School of Nursing and Diabetic Centre at the IGN and directed the management for devising plan and forthwith preparation of the feasibility report in this regard. The philanthropists announced donating three ambulances for the institute and also giving donation for setting up of cafeteria, waiting area and other facilities.

During the meeting of executive body, MS Dr Hafiz Mukhtar Randhawa apprised the participants of performance and working of the IGN. He also thanked the philanthropists for contributing valuable funds for this public welfare project and assured that further investment would be made in this medical facility. The deputy commissioner lauded the efforts of Medical Superintendent Dr Hafiz Mukhtar Randhawa, other doctors and paramedical staff for their dedicated services to gain public confidence on Hilal-e-Ahmar Maternity Hospital. Later, DC Salman Ghani, industrialist/philanthropist Major (retd) Shanawazul Hassan of Passban Group, Farrukh Zaman of Kalash Group, M Asghar of Power Chemicals, Haji M Ramzan of Farrukh Flour Mills, Chaudhry Yasin, Humayun Arshad, Mian Kamaluddin and others visited different wards and sections of the newly-constructed building and appreciated the workmanship of the builders.
