HAFIZABAD: People have expressed resentment against the TMA poor performance.
Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, people from different walks of life said that choked sewerage and open drains were spreading foul smell in different areas of the city. They said that sewage had inundated the low-lying areas, including Mohallah Peer Kale Shah, Garhi Awan, Mohallah Mian Da Kot, Mohallah Sharifpura, Ghallah Mandi and Gujranwala Road. The people demanded the DCO order immediate desilting of drains. They also demanded the DCO order the TMA to launch an anti-encroachment campaign in the city. They said that all push carts should be shifted to Old Sabzi Mandi on Alipur Road. They said that the two grain markets in congested localities were creating traffic mess. They asked the district administration to fulfil its promise to shift the grain markets to a new site on Madharianwala Road, which had been acquired about a decade ago.
