KBA protests against ‘victimisation’ of Multan lawyers
Lawyers of the Karachi Bar Association (KBA) boycotted their work on Friday as they observed a strike against the alleged victimisation of lawyers in Multan.
The protesters demanded immediate action from the federal and Punjab governments for withdrawal of cases registered under provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act against lawyers in Multan for vandalising the city’s new judicial complex
A case had been registered against 40 lawyers, including Lahore High Court Bar Multan Bench President Sherzaman Qureshi, on Thursday, a day after they protested in Multan against shifting of the judicial complex and resorted to vandalising the new building. The unruly lawyers had broken doors and smashed windows of courtrooms and judges’ chambers.
KBA to join JI rally
KBA President Naim Qureshi has announced that the association’s lawyers would be joining the million man march being organised by the Jamaat-e-Islami on December 17 to protest against US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The KBA president vowed support for the rally during a visit by JI’s Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman.

As many as 10,000 KBA members would be electing new office-bearers for the 2017-2018 in polls to be held at the City Courts premises on Saturday (today).
