Trump recognition of Jerusalem as Israeli capital: Anti-US rallies staged across KP, Fata

PESHAWAR: Protest rallies were staged in Khyber Pakh-tunkhwa and tribal areas against US President Donald Trump’s decision of recognising Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as capital of Israel.

In the provincial capital, the main rally was brought out from Masjid Mahabat Khan after Friday prayers. Led by provincial chief of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Mushtaq Ahmad, the rally culminated at Chowk Yadgar. The participants of the rally, including JI workers, chanted slogans against the US and Israel.

Addressing the rally, the JI leader condemned the decision of the US president and said it was done to pave the way for a greater Israel. “Jerusalem is a red line and US and Israel should not cross it. Israel has less population than Karachi but it is committing atrocities against the innocent Palestinians at the behest of the US,” said Mushtaq Ahmad.

JI leaders Sabir Hussain Awan, Attiqur Rahman, prayer leader of the Masjid Mahabat Khan Tayyab Qureshi and others also spoke on the occasion.

They asked the Muslim Ummah to take a joint stance over the issue and convey a strong message to the US and Israel. The Jamatud Dawa and Difa-e-Pakistan Council also staged a protest to resent the President Donald Trump decision to accept Jerusalem as capital of Israel. The protesters torched President Donald Trump’s effigy outside Peshawar Press Club.

Meanwhile, the members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-affiliated Insaf Students Federation also brought out a protest rally to express anger at US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Al-Quds as capital of Israel.

NOWSHERA: Activists of various political parties took out protest rallies against the President Donald Trump’s announcement. Led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leaders, including Sharif Khan, Rameez Durrani, Dilaram Khan and Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, the protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with anti-US and anti-Israel slogans.

Speaking on the occasion, they asked the government of Pakistan and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to call an emergency meeting and take steps to resist the US move.

HANGU: Activists of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Jamiat Talaba-i-Islam (JTI) staged protest to condemn President Trump’s announcement.

Led by Muhammad Zubair, Abdur Rehman Qureshi and Mian Sultan Hashmi, the protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the US and Israel. They chanted slogans against Donald Trump.

Later, speaking at a press conference, they said that Donald Trump had hurt the sentiments of the Muslims by recognising the Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

KHAR: JI leaders and activists also took out protest rally against US announcement to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Led by the JI leaders including Maulana Waheed Gul and Qari Abdul Majeed, the protesters chanted slogans against the US and Israel.
