Zardari-Qadri meeting: Never imagined PPP would become such an orphan, says Fazl
LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said he can’t even imagine that the Pakistan People’s Party will stoop so low and become such a political orphan that Asif Ali Zardari will join hands with Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri.
He was commenting on PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari’s meeting with the PAT chief at his residence in Lahore on Thursday. After attending a meeting of his party’s central executive committee on Friday, the Maulana Fazl ruled out the possibility of another anti-government sit-in of the opposition parties in near future. He said sit-ins had never produced any positive results, and created more crises only, causing damage to economy and security of the country.
“The recent issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat oath for legislators was very sensitive in nature. It was created inside parliament and was resolved there by the legislators,” he said. Fazl, who has been a trustworthy ally of the ruling PML-N, said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project could also receive serious setbacks in case of agitation. “We must maintain the confidence of Chinese investors, undertaking important projects in the country.
Earnestness and serious attitude towards improving economy must be maintained at national level; otherwise, the nation could suffer irreparable loss.” To another question, Mualana Fazl said according to the international laws, Jerusalem had never been a part of Israel and the UN resolutions were a testimony to the fact. He said the US decision to acknowledge Jerusalem as Israel’s capital was one of the strangest moves committed by a president known for his senseless and dangerous attitude.
He said no country, other than Israel, was supporting the dangerous decision. He said Muslims of the world and Pakistan stood by Palestinians at all costs and would continue to register protests against the move at all forums.
