ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah has said it is regrettable that the judiciary and other institutions have adopted different attitudes and principles of justice for Sindh in comparison to other provinces.
“We have seen that despite serious cases against Nawaz Sharif and his family, neither any arrest was made nor their names were put on the Exit Control List while on the other hand Sharjeel Memon (from Sindh), who voluntarily presented himself before the court, was not getting justice,” he said while talking to newsmen in his chamber at the Parliament House on Wednesday.
The leader of the opposition said these cases are a test for the judiciary and the double standards cannot continue. It is our tragic history that justice is given on the basis of personality, faces and their affiliation. “It is regrettable that our institutions are dividing us in bigger and smaller provinces, which is not a good omen for the future of the Federation,” he said.
Talking about the PPP’s rally in Islamabad held on Monday, Khursheed Shah said the PPP has outdone the political party which claims holding biggest public rallies. “The Parade Ground proved smaller for the PPP’s rally as half of the participants were inside the ground and the remaining half were outside,” he said. He claimed that around 40,000 to 50,000 PPP workers from Sialkot, Jehlum, Lalamusa, Kashmir and Attock and other surrounding areas failed to reach the Parade Ground as they were stuck up in the traffic mess on National Highway.
The opposition leader said the PPP is moving ahead with a new leadership and vision and he expected and firmly hoped that Bilawal Bhutto will do politics like his maternal grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
