TAKHT BHAI: The police foiled a terror bid and recovered lethal weapons including hand-grenades, mortar shells and rocket launchers from a canal during the two-day search operation in the limits of Saro Shah Police Station in Takht Bhai on Tuesday. Tipped off by the locals, the personnel of Bomb Disposal Unit, Mardan, and local police continued the search operation in the precincts of Saro Shah Police Station and found 23 more hand-grenades and seven mortar shells.
On Monday, the police and BDU personnel had recovered 24 hand-grenades, 19 mortar shells and four rocket launchers from the canal. Police sources said that a total of 47 hand-grenades, 26 mortar shells and four rocket launchers were recovered during the two-day action. They said the militants had stuffed the weapons in newspapers and thrown into the canal near Saro Shah Police Station. The sources said the militants had planned to use the weapons in subversive activities in the district but the timely action by the police aborted their plan. The police registered a case against unknown militants and started investigation.
