KARACHI: Pakistan finished 19th in the WSF World Team Squash Championship at Salle Vallier, Marseille, France on Sunday. In the match for the 19th place, Pakistan overpowered Ireland.
In the first match, Farhan Zaman beat Arthur Gaskin 11-6, 11-7, 11-8 in 24 minutes and Shahjahan Khan defeated Brian Byrne 11-8, 11-9, 11-9 in 35 minutes. Pakistan lost to Egypt, South Africa and Switzerland in the championship.
“Another poor result from Team Pakistan. We lost to South Africa and it’s unbelievable because they didn’t have any top 100 player in their team,” said a fan of Pakistani team on social media.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) did not include the country’s top-ranked player Farhan Mehboob in the team because he wanted to feature in the event without undergoing a trial.
