PESHAWAR: Investigators are collecting the footage of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) from the spot of the Friday’s attack on the Directorate of Agriculture on University Road as security all over the province has been upgraded.
A source said that the investigators couldn’t get a clear view of the CCTVs in the building. They were now looking for others installed at the nearby places. Two major militant attacks in Peshawar within eight days have already set the alarm bells ringing for the governments and its law-enforcement agencies.
The Friday’s attack was second in the city within eight days after an Additional Inspector General of the KP Police Ashraf Noor was martyred in a suicide bombing in Hayatabad on November 24.
On Friday, nine people including eight students and a watchman were martyred while 28 injured when three militants attacked the Directorate General of Agriculture sited opposite the University of Peshawar and Islamia College University.
Investigators said that none of the attackers detonated explosives around their vest, probably after realizing that they were misled by the handlers about the target as they were looking for an office of an intelligence agency. The attackers filmed the attack and shared it with handlers via a communication app. Security in Peshawar and other areas in the province was beefed up after the recent terror attacks.
