Rule of law ensures justice, says PHC CJ

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Yahya Afridi on Thursday said that the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution ensured justice in a society.
Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi on Thursday said that injustice not only violate citizens' rights but also create anarchy in the society. Speaking at the District Bar Association here, he said that judiciary decides cases on the basis of law and constitution to ensure the basic rights of citizens. PHC Judge Muhammad Shakil Khan, District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Inamullah Khan, Senior Civil Judge Muhammad Ghayas Khan, High Court Bar Association President Muhammad Anwar Awan, general secretary Hidayatullah Malana, district bar president Zainul Abideen, general secretary Muhammad Asghar Baloch and lawyers were also present on the occasion.
"Judiciary has the right of review when any authority or institution transgresses from its constitutional limits," he said. He added that institutions were bound to perform their duties under the preview of the constitution.
The PHC CJ said that online system had been introduced to provide copies of the cases to the litigants and lawyers without any additional applications. Earlier, he inspected the pace of work on the Judicial Complex Dera and Paharpur.
