ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi hoped the Indian government would respond positively regarding BCCI’s efforts to restart cricket ties with Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference following Board of Governing (BoG) meeting in Lahore, Sethi said according to the reports reaching here, Indian board has approached their government requesting for NoC to play bilateral series against Pakistan.
“The BCCI has approached their government yet again and hopeful this time it would get the required permission to play against Pakistan. Even if they would continue to stay away from resuming cricketing relations with Pakistan, India would lose Test series points, which according to ICC rules, would be awarded to Pakistan.”
Sethi said the PCB legal battle against BCCI would continue. “We would submit the plea with the ICC committee by January.”
He also announced that the PSL franchises would be suggested to include budding players from the area of their belonging. “The Quetta Gladiators should have all the emerging players from Quetta instead of picking these from other cities. Hopefully these franchises would realise the importance of issue and from next year onward they would include players from their own area in emerging category.”
He said that the PSL audit would be finalised in four weeks time by the new committee formed today.
The PCB chairman also announced raising media and hospitality boxes at the far end of the Pindi Stadium within months. “The PCB board has approved construction of far end block. The construction would start in a few months time.”
He clarified that no change in the constitution regarding two terms was under consideration.
